My Musical Beginnings
I first picked up a guitar at the age of fifteen, and by eighteen, I was already part of my first band. Over the past 35 years, although the band has evolved through various changes, we are still actively making music together—even if not with the same intensity we had in our twenties. Guitar remains my primary instrument, but my passion for music extends to playing drums, bass, mandolin, banjo, and the steelpan. My interest in a range of instruments goes beyond performance; I am fascinated by the unique construction and sound of each one.
Exploring Recording and Production
In 2006, I developed a strong interest in recording, mixing, and mastering music. This curiosity led me to open my own studio in 2008, which I ran for a couple years. However, as my family grew, I found that the studio was not sufficient to meet our financial needs. Although I eventually closed the business, my passion for music production persisted. I continue to produce music for my own projects, as well as for friends and family.
Developing Skills in Instrument Repair
Throughout my 35 years in music, I have taken great care in repairing and servicing my own collection of instruments, as well as those of other musicians, friends, and family. What began as a hobby has developed into a refined skill and deep knowledge of how to keep instruments in excellent playing condition, and how to restore those that have seen better days.
Professional Credentials and Associations
In addition to my hands-on experience, I am a Certified Guitar Repair Technician/Luthier through Southeast Guitar Repair Academy—a program I highly recommend. I am also an active member of the "Guild of American Luthiers" and the "Guitar Repair Luthiers Guild." And I continue to learn as a student of Tom Bills training program, “The Luthiers Edge.” I strongly believe in ongoing education, participating in repair and build training programs, guild memberships, and networking with other luthiers, players, and collectors.
Commitment to Service
Every instrument that comes into my shop receives the highest level of care and attention. I work to build a relationship with each instrument and client, aiming to provide the quality of service that both you and your instrument deserve.
